As Executive Producer for The Sims Medieval, a brand new game that places the popular simulated characters from The Sims into the Middle Ages, Rachel Bernstein oversees the production and direction for the project. Rachel started her career in software engineering, writing video drivers and color image processing applications. In 1994, she co-founded Frog City Software, a game studio out in San Francisco’s fog belt. In 2003, Rachel sold the studio to Take-Two Interactive and then ran it for three years as a Take-Two subsidiary. After that, she founded a new company, Sidecar Studios, to make Xbox Live Arcade games. In 2006, she accepted a position at EA, where her contributions have included leading the team on MySims Agents on the Wii.

Rachel has a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University. She lives in San Francisco. When not making or playing games, Rachel plays ultimate Frisbee in the San Francisco Ultimate League, and enjoys tossing a disc with her husband and kids.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event:

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
